Aashiq Banaya Aapne revolves around two young people who fall in love despite their families' disapproval of them marrying each other. A young man named Aditya Malik (Kareena Kapoor), the only daughter of the rich and powerful district collector, earns a scholarship to study abroad at Oxford University in England. She is soon joined by her cousin Veerendra Pratap Singh (Atul Kulkarni), whom she is secretly in love with. Aditya has an arranged marriage so her mother, Mrs. Tara Malik (Sushma Seth) wants her daughter to marry the son of Mr. Malhotra (Darshan Jariwala), who controls all business in Mumbai. When Aditya refuses to marry Vikram Malhotra, her mother asks Veerendra to convince Aditya to change her mind. Veerendra, however, is her mother's choice of Aditya's husband. Aditya's mother believes that he is the only suitable candidate for Aditya to marry, though she states that it will be out of love for Veerendra. Veerendra refuses to speak to Aditya about his love for her because he fears that it would lead to their parents forcing them apart. Mrs. Malik tells Vikram about this and he offers Aditya in marriage in order to make Veerendra leave the city. Mrs. Malik agrees to the marriage and Aditya pretends to agree. She later informs Veerendra about their marriage and he realizes that Aditya used him to avoid marrying Vikram. He then leaves her and moves away from Mumbai. Three years later, Veerendra returns and discovers that Aditya has made a lot of progress in her studies and is about to complete her masters in management science. Veerendra decides to rekindle his relationship with Aditya, but she tries to avoid him because he has hurt her in the past. She informs Mr. Malhotra that she will marry his son, Vikram Malhotra (Salman Khan). Aditya's mother appears to accept the news, but then tells Aditya that she will not allow her to marry Vikram. Aditya meets Vikram and learns why Veerendra left her. She is planning to marry his younger brother, Vikram Malhotra (Salman Khan), the son of the man who ruined Veerendra's career and reputation by giving him false business information during a business deal. Aditya convinces her not to let her family force her into an unhappy marriage with Vikram, even though she breaks up with him by saying that she loves Veerendra more. Dr. cfa1e77820
